Hotels Near the Long Beach Convention Center: Six Addresses by Street, Not by Minutes

In brief

The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center is at 300 East Ocean Boulevard, and no page published by the Center or the tourism bureau gives a walking time from any hotel to it. Six downtown hotels are listed with addresses on East Ocean Boulevard, East First Street and East Broadway; the three on Ocean Boulevard share the Center’s street.

  • Center address: 300 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90802; phone 562-436-36361.
  • On Ocean Boulevard: Westin Long Beach (333 East), Fairmont Breakers (210 East), Marriott Long Beach Downtown (111 East)4.
  • On First Street and Broadway: Courtyard (500 East First Street), Best Western Plus (517 East 1st Street), Hotel Metropolitan (505 E Broadway)4.
  • The tourism bureau’s only distance statement is general: “most” of the city’s 5,000-plus rooms are “within walking distance of conference facilities, entertainment and dining”4; the Center’s own home page says it is “within walking distance to everything”, also without a time1.
  • The Center’s directions page lists parking at “$15.00 per day with no in and out priveliges [sic]”; the city’s parking operator lists a $10 flat rate for scheduled events23.

Long Beach hotels on Booking.com

Anyone booking a room for a show at the Center wants the walk, and the walk is the one number nobody official publishes. The Center’s attendee page lists no hotels and states no distances; it links to a “Directions & Parking” page and to the tourism bureau5. A map with measured walking minutes is planned for this site. Until then this page orders the hotels by what is printed: street addresses, with the Center’s own address as the reference point. It is part of the section Getting In and Out of Long Beach.

The short answer

If you are… Do this
Choosing a hotel on the Center’s own street Ocean Boulevard: Westin Long Beach (333 East), Fairmont Breakers (210 East) or Marriott Long Beach Downtown (111 East)4
Choosing a hotel on First Street or Broadway Courtyard (500 East First Street), Best Western Plus Hotel at the Convention Center (517 East 1st Street) or Hotel Metropolitan (505 E Broadway)4
Needing a measured walk Measure from the Center’s 300 East Ocean Boulevard address; no official page states one, and a map with measured walking minutes is planned for this site14
Driving to the show Check the event’s own page for the rate: the Center and the city’s parking operator print different figures23

The Center's address and what it contains

The Center is at 300 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90802, phone 562-436-3636. Its facilities page lists exhibit halls, ballrooms, the Long Beach Arena, The Rainbow Bridge, The Cove, Top of The Lot, Terrace Plaza & Lobby, the Promenade Atrium & Plaza and meeting rooms, which it puts at more than 400,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space in all1. The entertainment side lists the Terrace Theater with “more than 3,000 seats” and the Long Beach Arena at approximately 13,000 capacity6. The Center’s directions page gives a street location for each garage and lot (Collins Way, Linden Avenue, East Seaside Way, and East Seaside Way and Pine Avenue); it gives no hours2.

Hotels on East Ocean Boulevard

Three hotels on the tourism bureau’s list share the Center’s street4. The street numbers below are ordered by how close they are to the Center’s own number, 300; that orders the addresses and does not measure a walk.

Hotel Address Street number versus the Center’s 300
The Westin Long Beach 333 East Ocean Boulevard, 90802 333, the nearest number
Fairmont Breakers, Long Beach 210 East Ocean Boulevard, 90802 210
Marriott Long Beach Downtown 111 East Ocean Boulevard, 90802 111

Source:4 for every row.

The pages cited here give no route, no crossing guidance and no time for any of the three. Whether an event closes or reroutes a sidewalk is an event question; Long Beach Convention Center: Parking, Entrances and Getting There covers the logistics.

Hotels on East First Street and East Broadway

Three more hotels on the same list are on East First Street and East Broadway4:

Hotel Address
Courtyard Long Beach Downtown 500 East First Street, 90802
Best Western Plus Hotel at the Convention Center 517 East 1st Street, 90802
Hotel Metropolitan 505 E Broadway, 90802

Source:4 for every row.

The Best Western Plus carries the Center in its name; its name is the only distance-like claim on the list, and the bureau’s listing prints no minutes for it4. A name is not a measurement.

The bureau’s list gives three other downtown addresses that are not on the Center’s street or the two above: Hyatt Regency Long Beach at 200 South Pine Avenue, Hotel MAI at 107 Long Beach Blvd and City Center Hotel by Kasa at 566 East 3rd Street4. No official page states a distance from any of them to the Center.

What "walking distance" means on the bureau's page

Visit Long Beach says: “Long Beach offers more than 5,000 rooms citywide, most within walking distance of conference facilities, entertainment and dining”4. That is the tourism bureau’s own claim about the city’s hotels as a group. It names no hotel, no starting point and no time, so it cannot rank anything.

Parking at the Center if you drive instead

The Center’s directions page says “Parking is $15.00 per day with no in and out priveliges [sic]”, that “Rates may differ by event”, and lists four on-site lots: the Terrace Theater Parking Garage (700 spaces), the Arena Parking Garage (1,200), the Convention Center Promenade Garage (400) and the Main Parking Lot on Shoreline Drive (1,900)2. For driving directions it ends with “Follow Shoreline Drive to Linden Avenue and into the parking lot”2.

Official pages disagree The city’s parking operator lists the Convention Center Garage at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. with a flat rate of $10.00 that applies “during scheduled events only”3. The Center’s own page says $15.00 a day with no in-and-out and warns that rates differ by event2. Plan around $15 and check the event’s page, since the garage and lots may be priced separately.

The city’s page states no hours, clearance or EV charging3; the Center’s page describes EV Passport charging spots, paid by QR code, after you buy a regular parking pass2. A hotel on Ocean Boulevard, First Street or Broadway is the alternative to paying event parking, but the walk remains unmeasured; a map with measured walking minutes is planned for this site. For the attendee’s wider checklist see Attending a Show at the Long Beach Convention Center. The site earns a commission on some hotel, ticket, transfer and parking links, which does not affect what is recommended.
